Halo 3 Heroic map pack free today

Halo 3's Heroic map pack, which launched in December, will be available to download for free from Xbox Live today according to Bungie.

The developer's dated it for "March 25th at 2 a.m." Pacific time in the US, which is like now here in the UK, although a quick check of Live still lists the map pack as 800 Microsoft Points. Presumably that will change imminently.

The Heroic map pack, if you recall, features three multiplayer maps Standoff, Rat's Nest's and Foundry.

Bungie's currently whipping a second map pack, Legendary, into shape, which will be out on April 15.

Id heard quite some time ago it was going to be made free after a certain amount of time and about now seemed like the right timescale.

The heroic map pack was made free today because the legendary map pack is coming on the 15th. All the map packs that Bungie releases for halo 3 will eventually be free.
