I have known this for a long time but just now really thought about it.
Why is the SoA weaker than 2 other weapons in the game... Jack spent a LONG time searching for the SoA when he could have just went to bowerstone north and got a better sword...

SoA/AV = Light (originally SoA was alot better than solus)
Solus greatsword = Heavy
Yeah but still jack spent forever looking for the sword and it does just about the same... so the SoA is faster but weaker. Solus Heavy stronger... does just about the same...
So why spend, a trillion years looking for a sword that does just about as much as one you can just walk up and take?
SoA was originally never meant to compete against an enemy in the game because the original game (not TLC) ended after you got it. Basically it was just a thing to play around with after you beat the game.
When they added TLC to the game though, suddenly the SoA was put against new competition. Either they could make all enemies super strong to give SoA a challenge, or they could nerf it a bit to make it suitable for normal gameplay.
Also I think there was some mumbojumbo in the story about "unlocking" the SoA, which Jack did which was why he got these super cool powers in the end. When Jack "died" I suppose the sword locked itself again or something.
I know they nerfed it and understand why, but they should have taken out the solus sword now... because now it makes no sense, also isn't the bereaver stronger?
Who says it's the damage of the sword that makes it the strongest? Again look at all the funky powers Jack got, who knows what he would've been able to do if the Hero didn't stop him.
True, I wish there was more fable lore... Like how he got the weird powers.. If it was the sword giving him the powers etc..
If h hhad more "funky Powers" I think he would have used them before he died... and you know how he raised up before he died? well he did that before he had the sword also in the jail, so maybe those powers were just him...
Perhaps it further supports my case - he needed the sword to unlock some of his powers, not because it was the most badass blade in the realms. All the attacks he does in that boss fight comes from the sword, I believe.
in the original Fable the sword Of Aeons was more powerful than the one in The Lost Chapters when you fight Jack you notice that the Sword only has 3 augmentations and when you kill your sister the sword gains an extra augmentation the extra one is Sharpening and gives the sword 1000 damage
