360 Arcade users get £12.99 hard drive

A good gesture and smart business move id say, however id like to see the price of the Hard Drives that are currently on shelves come down.

Active live members with no storage or a 64MB memory unity will be offered a 512MB version for free, while all 'active' Arcade console owners will have the opportunity to purchase a 20GB hard drive for £12.99. Not a bad deal.

If you own an Arcade console and haven't used Xbox Live for more than 12 months, Microsoft's offering a 20GB HDD and 3 months XBL package for £19.99, which is fair enough.

You can register for the memory upgrade program on Microsoft's official site, and see the full list of offers below:

* Active Live members with no storage or a 64MB MU will be offered 512mb for free or a 20GB HDD for £12.99
* Active Live members with 256MB or 512MB MU but no HDD will be offered a 20GB HDD for £12.99
* Consoles that have not connected to XBL for 12 months and don't possess MU will be offered a 20GB HDD and 3 months Xbox Live for £19.99
* Active Live Arcade console owners without a HDD will be offered a 20GB HDD for £12.99
* Arcade console owners without a HDD and not connected to XBL within 12 months will be offered a 20gb HDD and 3 months Xbox Live for £19.99.

No just the dashboard on the Xbox 360 (the guide, system blades and navigation menu).

New Xbox Experience

most other companies just update software or do patches or something...
microsoft has to make money when they do things that other companies do as customer service

Microsoft offer the best online service and yes you have to pay for it (to play online) but its price is nothing for the amount of content on there and updates we get. They dont have to offer anything like this but they chose to and i say they should be praised for this. Also with the price cuts and hopefully new and improved dashboard it will further add to the service.

Xbox Live is a great service, some tweaks here and there wouldnt go a miss but nothing is perfect. Still want that group chat feature to be incorporated so i can stop having to listen to the morons who talk crap and love the sound of their own voice but its on the way. The mute feature is a blessing i have to say.

I remember playing PS2 online and the difference between the two are amazing but I do realize that it's the Playstation TWO and not three.

Sounds like a really nice gesture to me! Microsoft are definitely in my good books now! Shame I already have a 20GB hard drive, though. I wouldn't mind 'em bumping the price of the 60GB and 120GB Elite hard drives down next!
