My new 40" HD-Ready beast

Me and my wife invested in an absolutely stunning new Samsung HD-Ready 40" LCD TV with integrated Freeview and it just arrived today! I haven't opened it yet (I promised myself I wouldn't touch it until we moved into our new house within the next few weeks) but I am just itching to see what this little beaut can do. It's currently blocking up our hallway for the time being because it is just massive and there is absolutely nowhere to store it! I really just can't stress just how huge this thing is.

I uploaded a few pictures of the packaging -- yes, I was that excited I started taking photos of the box... -- and you can check them out in my gallery (Steve's gallery); here's one or two random snaps hidden under the 'spoiler' tags for those of you interested:

Warning, this is a spoiler!

Now we're off to buy a '360!

Why did you choose the Samsung. What model did you choose?

Re: My new 40" HD-Ready beast

This model is the 'Samsung LE40R74BDX 40" LCD Television' model. I bought this one because I had heard very, very good reviews and I was able to quote a very low price of £729.99 to a company that I normally buy my office goods from; they matched the price and I ordered it immediately.

I felt so sorry for delivery guy this morning - not only did he have to contend with the sight of me in my dressing gown and mad bird nest hair at 8am, he also had to carry the whole thing by himself from the truck to the house...it's a huuuuuge box, really heavy and I just stood there like a numpty as he struggled up the driveway with it...

Re: My new 40" HD-Ready beast

The one i was going to originally get i think... was a similar model eitherway. I had problems with wall mounting it if it is same one so i had my Bravia instead plus price in Comet was about £889.00 and my Bravia was on offer at the time. The samsung line is a nice looking line of TV's though, nice choice
