Mnemonic Device Game! (Roy G Biv et al)

In this game first one person names a memory device, and others try to tell what it's for (or something is named and others try to make a memory device for it). If people don't get it, clues are allowed-- the more obscure the better.

Yep, or a rainbow. Do you have a memory-device to give?

It goes like that. One says a memory device-- Roy G. Biv. And another says what it is used to remember-- the colors of the rainbow. Then the person who got it right gives their own.

Um... actually, I have no idea. Is the first letter of each word something, or is each letter something?

no... parts of the words sound the same in the words they help you remember... it helps to remember both what the words are and what they are for...
it's for cell division if that helps... sorry I can't think of anything more general...

you can also just use my sis and my toe...

no... as I said, the words sound the same as the words they are helping you to remember... they're not initials...
my sis and my toes sound the same as the process they are supposed to help you remember... but unfortunately if you don't have a genetics background or perhaps a biology background I guess, it may be more difficult to get it...
maybe I should just say it... sorry I don't know anything more general...

EDIT:

yeah, my sis is for Myosis... which is used in sex cell reproduction, it creates people, me and my sister...
my toes is for Mytosis... which is used in somatic cell reproduction, it creates body parts, like toes... me and my toes...

Ahh! *lightning strikes brain* Now I am understanding how this works...like when you want to remember the points of the compass and you say Never Eat Shredded Wheat. Or am I still being moronic about this?
