Re: BBC Watchdog reviews Xbox 360 ring-of-death
The ring of death was a common problem with the first batch of machines and a friend of mine had it happen to his, but microsoft just sent him a new one free of charge in that instance. Interesting read though, and i have heard of these complaints before. Ive always been more than happy with the Microsoft customer service people
Hope i never have the ring of death error though, that would suck royally but id rather pay £80 than buy a new one as ive had mine quite a while now.
They called Ghost Recon (I think it was) Gears Of War

Re: BBC Watchdog reviews Xbox 360 ring-of-death
I thought it was because of this Microsoft that extended its warranty to 3 years, atleast that's what I was told by my local EB when I bought my 360....

Re: BBC Watchdog reviews Xbox 360 ring-of-death
When you pay for your 360, part of that price is to protect Microsoft from loosing money if your system needs to be replaced. So if you ask me, when you pay for the system, and you are given a 1 or 3 year warranty, you're paying to replace your 360 every year or 3. Then when you get your new system and you choose to buy a long warranty, again, you're paying to have the system replaced during that warranty. So, at the end of any warranty I always take it in to have it replaced, even if the original is still working fine. And a screwdriver to the laser always makes sure it isn't working fine.

Or if it's past is warranty by a new one and return the old as defective. Might need to clean it up first though. Questionable ethically however
