Re: Bethesda having hard time with Sonys online service

Atari founder Nolan Bushnell said the same thing about designing for PS3
Quote:
Q: What about Sony’s PlayStation 3 Strategy?
A: I think Sony shot themselves in the foot… there is a high probability [they] will fail. The price point is probably unsustainable. For years and years Sony has been a very difficult company to deal with from a developer standpoint. They could get away with their arrogance and capriciousness because they had an installed base. They have also historically had horrible software tools. You compare that to the Xbox 360 with really great authoring tools [and] additional revenue streams from Xbox live… a first party developer would be an idiot to develop for Sony first and not the 360. People don’t buy hardware, they buy software.

Here another article about Oblivion on the PS3 that says it looks better and loads faster on the PS3 IGN: PS3 Oblivion loads quicker, looks nicer than 360 - Joystiq

meh I'm not getting one anytime soon

How can you say that? How have they ruined it?

The games the same, nothing different except GFX Tweaks and it comes with all the plug-ins and extra content already. Just having trouble setting up and downloadable extras with Sony's overcomplicated online system. I think its a very smart move by Bethesda and remember its costing them just as much to develop it for the PS3 if not more on Blu Ray discs, they are just trying to gain more exposure and publicity over a wider market for their game which i respect and its a very wise business decision.

Was never said it was 'exclusive' and it was on PC first remember and designed for PC only for quite a while and 'no' console version was announced for a while. Then Bethesda took it upon themselves to please gamers that didnt have high enough spec PC's to run it by bringing it out on Xbox 360. Then they decided they would also give Sony fans and PS3 the game aswel to please more gamers who dont own a 360 OR a high powered PC which i think is admirable.
