Re: Bioshock 2 To Come In 2009?

If it is indeed going to be in just two years they would need to reuse a lot of what has already been done. I don't see being the same character for many reasons. I would love to see rapture in it's heyday

Re: Bioshock 2 To Come In 2009?

I really think a sequel would ruin Bioshock and its meaning, but that's just me. I believe this is not a game to continue, 2k might have said that they considered doing more with Bioshock, but I believe that doesn't mean a sequel.

2k should indeed go on with their gaming career, because 2k boston and australia proved to me that they really mean business. I don't want to see another Rapture, I want to see another masterpeice that they can craft.

I would like...meh, maybe a prequel series? Maybe a prequel game. I agree with tsuyu, the downfall of Rapture is like the downfall Rome, it should be something everyone should know about

The story arc is just waiting to be unraveled, not continued. There are so many secrets in the world of Rapture, and i'm dying to find out what.

Re: Bioshock 2 To Come In 2009?

The only problem I see with a prequal would be the ending. You'd almost certainly have to die; while that may sound fine in most works of fiction, it generally makes video game players frustrated. Hmm...

Actually, what might be kind of interesting: A game from the viewpoint of a member of Ryan's police force that's mentioned in the game. Sounds like moral choices up the wazoo, considering some of the things they were ordered to do. And it would definitely be a vastly different game, for good or ill: You'd have to deal with large numbers of people who are still sane, for example. (Rapture's population did number in the thousands). On the other hand, it would introduce a fourth (er...Fifth counting the security bots), maybe even more unpredictable type of enemy: The un-Spliced, normal human being.

I'm not worried either way, though. THey did say they had ideas for things that would happen both before and after Bioshock, and we clearly haven't seen the entire city. Not to mention they apparently left "Swimming" for the sequal. Whoo. I don't recommend knocking any of the possibilities unless they turn out crappy.

Well, you don't have2 to die because:

*Bioshock ending spoiler*
Warning, this is a spoiler!
The 'bad' ending in Bioshock showed us some splicers reaching the surface via some sort of' 'escape pod'.

So I don't think we should be so ready to say that nobody escaped the fall of Rapture.

Yeah, you're right.

Warning, this is a spoiler!
The bathspheres also appear in large numbers in the Good Ending. I guess the implication is that one way or another, splicers left Rapture.

It just seemed unlikely when I wrote it >_<" But it occurs to me that in said prequal
Warning, this is a spoiler!
, you would definitely have to be one of Ryan's inner circle or a relative thereof. As an aside, I guess arguably a sequal wouldn't have this problem, as Jack Ryan one way or the other probably deactivated the locks.

Also;

Warning, this is a spoiler!
In the game you will learn that the lockdown on bathysphere travel had only been active a short time before Rapture "fell".

As Rapture contained some of the smartest people around, I doubt that nobody saw the fall of Rapture comming and escaped in due time.

And the protesters and picket signs hints at some people did indeed leave so he had to put the lockdown in effect, much to the dissmay of the people who were now left behind in a doomed city.
