Literally minutes ago, GameTrailers' TV host, Geoff Keighley, tweeted that Bioshock 2 will be delayed to "fiscal 2010."

Keighley simply stated, "BioShock 2 has been delayed until Fiscal 2010."

Keighley himself is usually a reliable source and we can only presume that he has some insider knowledge coming out of Take Two where a financial update is due to kick off shortly.

Keighley followed up stating, "Take Two has a conference call in 30 mins to discuss the BioShock 2 delay. Hopefully we will find out what "fiscal 2010" means ..."

I'll listen in and report back with the Take Two, 2K and Bioshock 2 news when it breaks.

[Update:]Gaming mega blog, Kotaku, are also reporting the news now with Take Two stating that the reason was so they could "provide additional development time for the title."

Take Two CEO, Ben Feder stated that "the decision to shift a release date is never an easy one, especially with a product as highly anticipated as BioShock 2." Furthermore, Feder commented, "we felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve."

Well, hopefully the extra time will truly make the game that much better.
Some games you do wish would have just taken a little longer to release.

I dont mind either way, if it is delayed then i can have more time to enjoy other big releases that come out around that time.

There's a difference between "Delaying to refine the game", "Delaying to **** off fans" and "Delaying because the developers are lazy and stupid".

Duke Nukem was delayed because of funding and that the game began developing at a time where the graphics made quite a leap and they had to start over again. From what I know....

Anyway, as Drakan said, we're getting so many other good sequels and epic games in general that I don't really mind waiting 1 or 2 years for Bioshock 2.

Aside from missing the targeted demographic by roughly a decade, Duke Nukem actually looks pretty good.
