Black screen of death?

I have started getting the black screen of death when trying to enter Westcliff. I have been playing the game for probably over 20 hours total and have been to Westcliff many times. This seems to have started after I installed the game to the 360's hard drive, but that could be a coincidence. I have deleted it from the hard drive and gone back to playing off the disk.

When travelling to Westcliff I get the normal load screen, then the screen turns black but I still have the context-sensitive shortcut icons in the bottom left of the screen but they (or any of the other buttons on the controller) don't work.

There are no scratches on the disk. I googled this problem and see a few others have it as well, but there are no solutions,

Anyone else encountered this? Have any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to the forums - can't say I've had this problem myself. The game can be rather buggy at the best of times (I've so far managed to avoid many of the usual issues others have experienced) so perhaps it is glitched?

Do you have any other profiles and do they experience the same issues with Westcliff?

yeh this happened to me in birhgtwood when i did the cullis gate quest... my solution: to restart from the beginning of the game

im sorry, its the only solution i have. i waited about 3 days, but still brightwood kept dying for me. good luck, anyway.

I only have the one profile, but I guess that would be an option to try. I also just tried clearing the cache and NOT re-downloading the patch, but still get the same problem. Which makes sense if the save file is corrupt. *sigh* I don't really want to start over, maybe I will just put the game away for a few months and play some other stuff in hopes of a patch...

i even encountered some problems similiar to this one,like when i got divorced,the divorce sign on the top-hand of the shortcut bar wont go away,even if i restarted the system,cleaned the disc countless times.

Even the sales menu has dissapeared!!
