Blank Screen?
Hi,
I've been looking everywhere else, but this is a last ditch effort to find someone that know what's wrong with my game.
I recently got a new computer (7900 NVdia GS, Intel Duo Core 2.4 Ghz, 2Gig SDRam) and, unfortunatly, Vista Home Edition.
The first thing I did? Install Fable: The Lost Chapters.
My problem is this: I played the first chapter, and then when the cutscene started to take me to the guild, the scenes started to hang, and then would just go to black. I'm still getting audio and I can also interact with objects when the cutscenes end and game play resumes, because I can hear when I hit objects. However, I have no video at all. I've tried to turn off subtitles, change resolution and video settings, and even run the game under XP and 2000 (from the Vista menu). I've even tried reinstalling drivers and the recent update from the MS website for games. No dice.
Has anyone come across any way for me to be able to see the game?
Thanks!

Any chance you could possibly screenshot your problem at all?

Re: Blank Screen?
It, might, unfortunately be Vista, it has had a lot of problems with most games that were around before it, especially Fable and The Lost Chapters.
Maybe, you could ask Lionhead themselves or maybe the people who your computer was from, and ask them, because it could always be your machine too.

Re: Blank Screen?
I am having exactly the same problem as Disis13 and I have a Vista Home 32 bit, 2GHz processor, 1GB RAM and NVidia GeForce 6150 graphics.
The only thing different is that I get a blank screen as soon as the introduction to the game is over and goes right into the game but I can still hear the interaction and the audio like you
Have you found a solution to this problem yet? If you do please let me know ASAP
Id appreciate it very much
thanks again

Updated drivers for everything? Sound card, GFX Card, and tried disabling some video options like VSync etc?

Re: Blank Screen?
solution: stick with xp =P
i also just bought a new laptop with many of the same specs above... and it just seems to be vista. All system requirements are easily completed, and direct x and drivers are up to date and latest.
when i bought the computer the guy that sold it said that you could 'turn back the clock' if you will (so running Vista but using XP settings ??) as with XP you can run previous versions of windows (ie. 98, 95). Just wondering if anyone knows any more about this and how to do it on Vista?
thnx

Re: Blank Screen?
Your problemis Vista. No ifs and or buts about it. Thats all there is to it.
Windows is infamous for having problems with new operating systems. Everytime a new one comes out, something is bound to conflict with it. Infact, its most likely because Fable:TLC was made for all windows up to XP....
I have no idea why these problems occur. But, whenever a new window OS comes out, following it is TONS and TONS of fixes, updates, patches, etc, etc, etc.
Its windows, and, until they do something about it, you gotta deal with how windows works.
My suggestion on how to fix....
Uninstall Vista and load XP. Wait until Vista has been out for several months, then try it again. Likely the major problems will be fixed and patches will be released.

The problem is not Vista, as anyone with an ATI graphics card will tell you. The problem is Nvidia's laptop drivers for Vista, they don't work. Nvidia has said they will release new drivers in the future, which is is either bs or a long way off. So if you have a laptop with Vista and an Nvidia graphics card, you can either dual boot xp and install old xp drivers, or get an ATI laptop graphics card, which currently aren't as good Nvidia's
