Not just Nvidia laptop cards but certain model Nvidia cards. Some patches have been released for certain cards in the problematic range just not all of the unfortunately.

Re: Blank Screen?

Think anyway you should let Lionhead know of the problem, since it looks like many got the same. Just read trough posts and saw that NVIDIA had these problems. Does this mean that I probably will get that problem with my NVIDIA GeForce IV? Haven't tried Fable: TLC on this computer yet, but I think I will if I wont get these problems.

Im sure Lionhead know of the problem as its been around for quite a while and been all over the support pages of the official site. Its best to check the list of supported cards and ask around to see if anyone else has had issues with running it on a Geforce 4.

Re: Blank Screen?

I stumbled upon the answer to your issue. I was having the same blank screen and only audio issue. And it was simply adjusting the video setting in the game to a resolution that was 16 bit. i also turned down all the sliders as i was testing just to see. I'm playing with turning them up and down and seeing what effects they may have. I hope this helps. Oh and i do have everything checked in the "compatibility" tab for the fable exe except run at 600x480. i haven't turned them back off to see if it goes back blank after intro again.

Re: Blank Screen?

This seems to be an Nvidia Notebook issue, mostly. I can get the game to work fine on my Zues tower:

p4 2x2.8ghz OC@ 3.17ghz
2 gig corsair ram (4x512)
2x250 gig hdd@ 7200 rpm
nvidia Gforce FX5600 with 256meg memory
Vista Ultimate 32
2gig readyboost SD flash card
19" Veiw Sonic @ 1440x900 16:10
All shading and graphics set to full, no vsinc (distorts sound)

Works great!

However, my new HP Pavilon:
2x1.8ghz AMD Turion 64
nvidia GO7600 with 256 built in mem
2gig ram
2x100 gig sata hdd's
17" ultra-bright widescreen @1680X1050

Fable opens, I set default player and such, game starts to load, screen flashes, autosave comes on, screeen goes black, sound plays, no video.

I really think this is not a Vista, but Nvidia issue, escpecially with the mobile cards. The GeForce GO seems to cause most of the problems in forums I've seen.

solution: stick with xp =P

i also just bought a new laptop with many of the same specs above... and it just seems to be vista. All system requirements are easily completed, and direct x and drivers are up to date and latest.

when i bought the computer the guy that sold it said that you could 'turn back the clock' if you will (so running Vista but using XP settings ??) as with XP you can run previous versions of windows (ie. 98, 95). Just wondering if anyone knows any more about this and how to do it on Vista?

thnx
In regard to changing the setting on your system to run differently than Vista.
Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features: Use an older program with this version of Windows > Compatability Wizard

The compatablility wizard lets you choose the OS of earlier versions of windows with "lower" settings than are on your computer. You must select the program you wish to do this to. And insert the recommended settings of the game. I have tried this for Fable: TLC and no luck as of yet. I haven't tried recently but if i figure it out i'll let you know. If you have similar problems with different games this would be your best bet of fixing the issue.

I found a possible helpful solution. I have tried and it didn't solve my issue. But you're welcome to give it a try. It is on a different feed on the forum. Here's the link. http://forums.projectego.net/lost-ch...a-update-3681/
