The Bloop!

This is some scary stuff, The Bloop. Basicly it is some recordings made the summer of '97. Recordings deep within the oceans of something... something lurking. Waiting, watching beneath the sea!

Some thinks it might even be an ancient evil, like the big squid faced god Cthulhu. I am not familiar with the Lovecraft mythos though... But according to the Metallica song The Thing that should not be he is supposedly down there.. waiting...

Allow me to quote: "Then, driven ahead by curiosity in their captured yacht under Johansen's command, the men sight a great stone pillar sticking out of the sea, and in S. Latitude 47°9', W. Longitude l23°43', come upon a coastline of mingled mud, ooze, and weedy Cyclopean masonry which can be nothing less than the tangible substance of earth's supreme terror - the nightmare corpse-city of R'lyeh, that was built in measureless aeons behind history by the vast, loathsome shapes that seeped down from the dark stars..."
They seem to think so, and they have some cool recordings of "The Bloop" with noise reduction amongst other stuff.

It is quite disturbing... there might be something... down there....

Oh well I love knowledge - and Wikipedia is full of it. I love looking up random things to learn more.

This time I had just seen the movie "The Mothman Prohpecies" for the second time - still creeped out like hell and loving it.
I looked up Mothman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia , which led me to a list of other Cryptid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia s ,which led me to Kraken - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and then on to the Bloop - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Re: The Bloop!

We share a similarity Tsuyu, as I also use Wikipedia whenever I have nothing to do. And yeah I look stuff up whenever find it interesting.

As for this bloop - we are screwed.

Warning, this is a spoiler!

eek...

Sounds pretty freaky. I haven't had the chance to read the article or anything yet, but you never know. It could either be the evil kraken god thing or even weirder... a couple of hippie scuba divers with bizzare equipment just trying to annoy us all!

Yeah it is freaking disturbing. The fact alone that if it is a creature it has to be alot bigger than the blue whale is....

This Bloop, freaky and interesting, but I don`t believe it until I`ve seen it with my own eyes.

Belive what exactly? It does exist.

But what the source is however... who knows. It is not unlikely it is some new undiscovered creature - we know more about space than the deepest depths of our oceans.

Damn Interesting » The Call of the Bloop

Quote:
The array has since been used to track many fascinating undersea events, such as whale migrations, earthquakes, ocean currents, volcanic activity , and the shifting of Antarctic ice. But one sound captured by the sensitive SOSUS hydrophones has scientists puzzled. It fits the profile of a living creature, but for a creature to create this sound it would have to be significantly larger than a blue whale, which is believed to be the largest animal ever to have lived.

The unexplainable sound was detected several times during the summer of 1997, originating off the South American southwest coast at about 50° S 100° W. Each time that it was captured the ultra-low frequency sound rose rapidly in frequency over about one minute, and had sufficient amplitude to be heard on multiple sensors from over 3,000 miles away. Perplexed researchers, unable to identify any possible source for the sound, dubbed it "The Bloop."
The sound shares many characteristics with those emanated from biological creatures, in fact it fits those parameters so closely that a large number of researchers are convinced that its origin is animal. But in order for an aquatic animal to emit a sound that can travel over 3,000 miles though Earth's noisy oceans, scientists say that it would need an incredibly large noise-making apparatus, one much bigger than that of the blue whale.
Theories abound as to the source of the Bloop. If it is the vocalization of a living organism, it is one which makes its home in the dark, cold depths of the ocean. Some have suggested that giant squids could be responsible for the sound, but that is unlikely considering that no known species of cephalopod have the gas-filled sac necessary to reach such great volumes. Indeed science has not recorded any animals– living or extinct– with nearly enough size to house the organs needed to produce the level of output demonstrated by the Bloop… so unless this mystery creature uses some unknown mechanism to generate sound, it is presumed to be an incredibly massive organism.

Not trying to flame or anything, but the bloop is the sound which was recorded, so you can't really see a sound unless it's on a graph or something...
