Call of Duty 4 DLC Delayed!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Game of the Year Edition Keycode Redemption

According to the website, the maps have been delayed until April 10th. What a disappointment.

Im a member of the official forums and fourzerotwo from the team said the following...

CoD4: Map Pack - Not Delayed (+ video) « IAMfourzerotwo

Quote:
Despite what the internet might tell you (including some “official” sources), the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare variety map pack has NOT been delayed until the 10th. As of right now we’re pushing certification for an on-time release for April 3rd or 4th. As of right now though, I’m being told that it’s a good chance it will be released worldwide (except for Japan) tomorrow night / early-Friday morning.

With that said, we also have a new video up on Gametrailers that show off the new maps in action, so check it out above.

For those of you asking when you should take off work, I’d take off Friday, as it looks like they should be available late Thursday night / early Friday morning, which means Friday you should be able to play all day. Also, those of you who have tokens already (either from Game of the Year edition or won them at the Gamestop event we held) you’ll be able to use them as soon as the Map packs are available on Xbox Live.

Update for those of you who bought the Game of the Year Editions:

I see a lot of questions for those of you who have the Game of the Year Editions and visited Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Game of the Year Edition Keycode Redemption where all the April 10th delay date rumors spawned from. However, I wanted to let you know that I am currently working to get that changed so that it reflects the correct release date of the maps (April 4th) as well as allows users who buy the GOTY edition to redeem their code for a token as soon as the maps are available (on April 4th) instead of April 10th. I hope that clears up any confusion and I will keep you updated if anything changes, but I wanted to let you know I’m working to make sure you’re taken care of.

DD is right: The Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack has not been delayed. From what I can tell, the April 10th release date started out as an April Fool's prank and all some of the major gaming news sites played along. You should have seen the commotion in the Call of Duty 4 Forum over at GameFAQs

Re: Call of Duty 4 DLC Delayed!

I played them for an hour or two last night and again this morning. I've played on Creek, Chinatown and Broadcast, but haven't had a chance to play on Killhouse just yet. I think the maps are alright, nothing special really. My favourite, so far, is Broadcast but I found Chinatown and Creek a little disappointing.

Creek is a sniper's paradise and me, not being a sniper, I vote to skip everytime it comes up now. I've got no idea how the hell people get on the roofs on the buildings but it's a nightmare to kill 'em once they're up there. Broadcast can be fun, though.

I don't regret buying 'em - I had 1400 Microsoft Points attached to my account which have been doing nothing for almost a year now so I figured the Variety Map Pack would be about the best thing to spend 'em on. I like that there's a "double exp" weekend going on now, too. I've ranked up a ton playing on Team Deathmatch.

The reason you haven't gotten the chance to play Killhouse yet is because it's a Cage Match/Team Tactical map only. That's REALLY disappointing other than the fact that it's a rectangle with some ply wood around. I really like Chinatown and I would say that that is my favorite map out of the new ones. I enjoy Broadcast. I'm not so much a fan of Creek either. It's alright but even when I try sniping there, I find there are just way too many trees and they aren't see through.

All in all, the pack is alright. They could have possibly included a few more for our money, especially if they were going to skimp out on Killhouse.

Re: Call of Duty 4 DLC Delayed!

2500 XP? Nice!

I've played two Search & Destroy games so far and both of 'em happened to be on... Creek. Suffice to say: I had my backside handed to me by Barret-wielding snipers. And, because it was Hardcore S&D, I had no idea where the hell they were camped. I BET THEY WERE ON THAT DAMNED ROOF! That evil, evil roof.

As soon as the "Double EXP" weekend is over I'll probably be going back to Rainbow Six Vegas 2 again.
