Can't quest anymore?

So here's what's going on: I spent a pretty long amount of time on a charachter, got all the possible legendary weapons/silver keys/suits etc. up to my point. My current quest is the "save the archaeologist" quest. I can get through the quest, but the autosave after the quest always corrupts. I've hero saved a couple times, but If that was the problem wouldn't I not be able to save before the quest either?

I went and took the knothole glade "break the siege" quest, but I can't save after completing that quest either.

Oh, didn`t see that one.

Just looked and it seems it`s not possible to turn autosave off. At least in the options menu.

Yeah I'd thought about that, but couldn't find anything.

What really sucks is that I've usually got two backup saves, one that's a few minutes behind (I save it once for every three to five saves on my main file)

and one that's way behind. Problem is; I saved over the recent save one, and the way behind one is ten hours behind. That's a lot of lost work.

I was just going to say that. So I guess I was wrong. Don't know what else to suggest though. Except to start over

Might want to check an older save to see if it works there. Maybe just maybe if you can successfully autosave in one of those that you could go back to a newer save.

Tried that stuff, nothing worked. After some investigation, It seems I can only save in my current area (If I load the game, then walk into an adjacent area, or guild-teleport into a different area and try to save fable screws up and that attempted save becomes corrupt.)

However, like I said, I can save fine in my current area. The quests, If I take them seem to load fine, I just can't save after them.

I think I'll go try the siege quest again, and then teleport to my original location. see if that works or not.

[edit] I just had a wtfhax moment. I went and retried the archaeologist quest. I didn't feel like really trying to get experience from it, knowing the auto save would fail, so of course I rushed through to just complete the quest. Bam. the autosave worked. now we'll see if I can world save.

Okay, after some more investigation, It would seem I can only save wherever the last successful autosave was, and those seem to work at random. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe there's a faulty file somewhere or something that I could replace?

Archon's Battle Helmet (Necropolis: found in the silver chest next to the river) or Holy Warrior Helm (The Lost Bay: found in a chest at the side of the path) maybe?

and dude.your lucky,you probably have actual ground in ur game.mine is nothing but a white floor.exept when i'm inside a building.

drakan,thank you so much.but...were are the silver keys?i've conquered demons...destroyed bandits and cut through balverines like parchment...BUT I CAN'T FIND THE FRIGGIN KEEEEEYYSS!!!!!!!!

I have Xbox version so dont have to worry about GFX driver issues, however my floor on Oblivion is rainbow coloured if thats any consolation.

Question:
Did you use Hero Save too much?
Like to do the Hero Save bug to get items or silver keys, this is important, because IF you used Hero Save too much, your save is corrupted and sorry, it cannot be fixed. You will have to restart the game, or use another earlier save, I always have 1 extra save for backup to avoid this kind of problem...

I've had the same problem, your save file corrupts and the closest one is 10 hours behind. Here is my advice; get back up on the horse, load that old save file and do it all over again
