The Dark Prince

[Fatalis]

The dark prince views his allies with growing mistrust
like him all are ruled by animal instincts and lusts
attracted to power like a shark to cold blood
these sharks see crimson torrents, a sanguinus flood
power to be gained through measures unmeasured
the reality of friendship when ambitions untethered
friends and allies become enemies and foes
partnerships run thin and draw to a close
wealth and power, a beguling pandoras box
once opened comes greed like a ravenous pox
the dark prince is monarch through no blood or relation
instead stole the crown through merciless assassination
the power led him to kill not only the king and his wife
but infant heirs to the throne, inocent victims alike
but with his new power, complacency was sure to follow
and karma dictates it will come back, revenge a hard dish to swallow
like the blood welling in his throat, with air it competes
and so the dark prince is slain, the cycle complete

well look at that, your a poet and you dont know it

I sorta did know it, because it's hard to write that well, in rhyming couplets that many times by accident.

It would be a bit of a coincidence for me to not know I was a poet, to find myself posting in the artistic subforum, writing what I would not consciously recognize as poetry, and just happening to
do it at least moderately well.
