Lock picking is easy, you just push mouse up so tumbler clicks and when it hits the top click mouse button before it falls(or control stick and button if its 360 version.) If you notice sometimes when you push tumbler up it falls faster than other times, you just have to time it right and click mouse as it gets to the top. Its a simple enough technique, some locks are relatively hard though. Also you can get the skeleton key from one of the shine (Nocturne Shrine) quests at level 10 i believe (unbreakable lockpick).
