Fable 2 features to be released at GDC Conference

If it isn't new to you, well then, its new to me...

"January 9, 2007 - Gamasutra, the web-arm of CMP Game Group which runs the Game Developers Conference, revealed a trio of program additions for GDC 2007. The San Francisco convention runs from March 5-9 and is expected to draw considerable attention this year following the downsizing of E3.

The biggest news is that Lionhead Studio's Peter Molyneux is hosting a session to discuss Fable 2. In 2002, Molyneux held a 90-minute session to discuss Fable and revealed an incredible amount of information about the upcoming RPG. The "Innovations in Fable 2" lecture appears to have similar depth. The lecture "will examine how key game play elements have been refined and expanded. It will also look at what inspiration was drawn for the original game and what lessons were learnt from Fable." Also promised is the reveal of "a totally unexpected feature" in Fable 2. Our guess is co-op play, a feature originally planned for the first Fable."

Co-op I'm sure will be an interesting addition to Fable. However due to the large nature of the game, it will most definitely be over Xbox Live or System Link. Splitscreen often butchers the player's view, and as Fable is a very visual game, I don't expect Lionhead to divide the screen.

By all accounts Molyneux is going to reveal that huge secret he has been talking about and I would highly doubt its something as boring as co-op play. Its something that nobody expects- and everybody right now is expecting some form of co-op play from the game...

I miss being on here for a while and I lose track of everything

Anyway, personally I say roll on March until we find out this gargantuan secret is. Maybe its something like being able to import your old Fable character into the game or something like your main character plays an NPC role somewhere and you can import him and the NPC will look like exactly like your old character. Hmm, I dont even know- totally guess working this from the back of my head....

Theres the possibility that there may some kind of online co-op mode for X-Box Live so if you have XBL you might be in luck- all thats just guess work though but I am sure they will have something working with the live service, downloadable content probably...

I only gots one controller as well - we should start a donation fund...

anyways co-op online is a no no i have yet to have one game that does that

I used to hate playing online, I mean really hate it so badly. Then WoW infected me with its presence- it was all down hill from there... and if F2 did have online co-op or online versus I think I would probably fail Uni and end up a gaming junkie trolling the streets with my 360 trying to find a broadband connection and a TV to get my next fix.

It would be cool not to need LIVE to play co-op, but then I myself like the idea of playing with a friend who lives on the other side of the world. Or just someone who can't come over.

Well I like the idea of a normal co-op mode, and I also like the idea of online co-op. maybe we'll all get lucky and it'll have both... I hope that if there is an offline co-op mode that people will be able to put their character data on a memory card and bring it with them so they can play with their own character...
