Fable II to get DLC
Just incase you missed the 360Zine posted on the Front Page Peter has confirmed that They are indeed working on DLC (Down Loadable Content)
Quote:
We are working on downloadable content. I'd like downloadable content to be coming out as soon as we possibly can.
There are some features in Fable II that we are probably going to have to pull out in this triage process we're going through right now. If that's the case then the DLC will include that content, and we've aslo been working on some bigger DLC.
|
This is great news unless you were hoping that they would start working on a windows version

It'll be even sweeter if they offer a 24 hour period where the DLC is free...

I downt have live and personally i thinks its discrasful to charge an average £40-£50 for a game without content that it should already have but because its fable I wont argue and hope every one with live has fun with new dungons ect

Re: Fable II to get DLC
I finished reading the entire article earlier, and I'm starting to get a pretty damn impatient for this game. Glad to see they're going to be giving us some downloads, too.

Content it should already have? You buy the game fully knowing what you are getting in it (at least I would hope you do), what they put in the disc is what you pay for. Downloadable content consists of extra content that they put out to keep the game fresh and the players interested. I hate to break it to you, but extra stuff is never free.

No they keep it back because it's not ready to be in the game because it's not finished yet or has bugs or something like that. This way Lionhead doesn't have to delay the game because they want to finish one part of the game nor do they have to leave it out of the game all together.
By charging for the content Lionhead is rewarded for the effort of continuing to make more and more great stuff. I can see some minor editions being free but the bigger stuff should be charged. I want more DLC and if Lionhead is going to make money on it they would be more motivated to do it. Wouldn't we all be?

They don't keep things out deliberately. You're just being paranoid. Downloadable content is almost always additions made to the game after it's release, which means they make this extra content even after they've finished working their asses off with the game.

Re: Fable II to get DLC
The down loadable stuff, sounds good, but what would they take out to add it? If you loose live, wouldn't that mean, you loose the down loadable stuff, too? I buy the whole game, and don't want to loose any of it.

Re: Fable II to get DLC
You won't lose anything. You just will need to conect to internet to downlaod so extra stuff some time in the future. Once you have downloaded you won't need to connect to live unless you want to play multiplayer over the net

Re: Fable II to get DLC
Ok but he said features right? What the hell does that mean? If me and My dad go fifty fifty on Fable two, and it's not everything I told him it would be (the bigger features like the friggin' dog) he's gonna be ****ed, Seeing as he's been almost as anxious waiting for this as I am. I don't even see what they could take out, and people not get mad. I mean they told us a set list of things to expect in F2 right? Lion head should've just told us this a while back, instead of doing all these interviews saying that they were in the final run, and they just needed to fix bugs.
Todd, Tex, Moonie, any thoughts?

They are in the final run. As far as Fable 2 is concerned, everything that we've been told is going to be in the game. The "features" I would think he would add via downloadable content would probably be more jobs and such, since we've been told months ago that they had to cut a few jobs out (which is what I assume he was referring to in the article), as well as whatever else they plan on including. I highly doubt they need to cut anything else to get their due date, especially since they're practically completely finished with the game.
Would you imagine the ****ing disaster it would be if the dog ended up not being in the game.

Yeah dude i know i agree thats why i said that because it is fable i wont argue because they do work their butts of and yeah they want DLC to make there game better but i was saying that most game developers do hold things back that could have been put into the game , i know that lionhead isnt one of these (There the most amazing game devlopers ever ) but i was just saying that DLC such as the add on dungeon in lost oddesy could actually have been put in the game anyways I never said all developers do this i just said that if you paying £45 for a game you should get what you pay for wich in most cases you do Glad i got that off my chest ( i suck at explaining stuff )

Re: Fable II to get DLC
Ok I can see that. That's not nearly as big a problem as losing something like the dog, if that happened let's just say that a combination of google earth and ballistic missles would be the demise of 1 Occam Court. lol. If it's just extra jobs and what not, some serious rewording needed to be done to the article that came out of. Because feature was certainly not the word I wanted to hear. lol.
