Fallout 3 Gets Adult Content

Bethesda's new post-apocalyptic RPG title in the very popular Fallout series 'Fallout 3' is aiming to appeal to an adult audience. Fallout 3's lead designer Emil Pagliarulo has been talking to PC Zone about the content they are going to include in it.

This is a game I am very excited about. I just hope it won't turn into a "Futuristic Oblivion". I don't really like that game. At all.

But I love Fallout 1 and 2 - I hope they won't let me and the good name of Fallout down.

Well, just try not to focus on the fact that it doesn't have the same battle system as the other Fallout games, which is something people often complain about and it's starting to annoy me (Sure, it was great and all, but they seem to be more or less capturing the feel, so I really don't give a crap that it's a shooter). As for "Futuristic Oblivion", considering it seems like the battle system and plot is a lot more interesting and diverse 'n such you probably don't have to worry about that. I hope that there's more character interaction than the Elder Scrolls games, though. Don't get me wrong, I loved mucking about in that universe, but the fact that my character seemed so distant from the other people in the game got annoying after a while.

Although some silliness would be good. Just a little. You know.

Well, it's not really strictly a shooter from what I've seen, unless you'd consider Oblivion a shooter. Yes, it's first person, but you also have the option of again switching to third person view, and your attacks aren't going to be successful based on aim as in a shooter, but are more dependent on what your stats are and what the weapon you're using is like... so far more like an RPG than a shooter's combat system

what I'm most looking forward to in this game is the branching storyline they've described, with the multitude of different endings... stuff like your choice to destroy or save Megaton, which sounds really cool

... that and drinking out of a toilet

Well, as long as the thrid person view is more like Mass Effect and less Oblivion(that was really just a way to view your character, if you ask me. Just like in Morrowind) I'm happy.

Judging by the trailer, I want to actually see that power armor when I walk around, and not just the weapon from first person view.

Well Oblivion was solely designed around 1st person and 3rd person was not planned originally and only added late in production. They have learned from their mistakes with that for sure.

Well, OXM described the over the shoulder view as being "Resident Evil- esque"... not sure if you think that's a good thing or a bad thing

I care what view it is, that's who, and so do a lot of other people

Certain genres mesh well with certain views, and the view can have an impact on your control and by extension, attachment to the character... a good example is the Silent Hill Series, who's major detractor for me was the view and camera control...
just because you don't feel a feature is important doesn't mean the rest of us don't or that we wont continue talking about it

what the hell are you talking about?
first of all, you don't have to be a pro to recognize the pros and cons of anything

secondly, no one was criticizing anything, merely stating what we do and don't like and comparing different examples... people do that with food and music and everything else... nobody likes everything, if they do they're boring..
and finally, there's no need to start telling people they sound stupid... it's rude for one thing and you can stop right now
and this is a discussion forum... that means it is a place for discussion, and part of discussion is critique and comparison, not to simply grin and pretend we all think everything is equally wonderful and that's that when we don't

what good would it do for games to improve if we were never allowed to notice it?

As paying customers for the companies games we shouldnt just 'except' any crap they throw at us and should criticize where we can. Thats how games improve, and if we didnt voice our opinions then they wouldnt feel any need to improve the games they are making. This isnt a discussion about food or music this is a discussion about games that use terrible camera angles (not that this game will) but rubbish camera angles can ruin otherwise great games. Also i find it funny how most comments you seem to post are snide comments at other people and their opinions.

Fallout aint a first person game. If you've played Fallout 1 & 2 you know that Fallout should have over-head view and in my opinion adding that to the next gen consoles would be awesome. But alot of new games have shown us what third person can do, Gears of War and Mass Effect for example, and if they pull that off in Fallout 3, unlike Oblivion, we might just have a winner here.

Too bad it is like over a year or something until it is done.
