Dont think they will ever make a FFVII remake, as much as some Final Fantasy fans want it. If they screwed it up there would be the biggest fanboy rants ever. Also FFXI was an online only game so it wont be like that.

Nope because they always change all the main characters, settings and story for each game. Though some of them had spin off titles, the major releases are not tied in with each other in any way. So they could literally make them forever and keep creating new characters and storylines.

There was originally only supposed to be 1 Final Fantasy (hence the name), since it was supposed to be Sakaguchi's "final fantasy" before calling it quits after making mediocre titles on the NES. But, it made critical success, thus the endless sequels.

Its good and stops the series getting boring storywise (can you imagine 13 halo games all the same idea and story?). Only the name remains the same, they change a lot of systems around for each title too. Its the biggest game next to MGS 4 on the PS3 and to see it on the 360 has got many Sony Fanboys in a huge rage but got the Industry in a huge excited buzz. Im extremely happy to see it on the 360 as if its any good (which im hoping it will be) i dont have to buy a PS3 to play it now.
