Hope so. In tlc we carried a knife on our right arm, but we never used it. That upset me.

Yeah I know it sucked, having a knife attached to your leather armour only being part of the GFX.

hmmm well they did miss alot and those guns being not so accurate is what could make things balanced alot more.

Re: Gun v Sword

Specialized plate armor was developed in the early years of the gun to try and counter act it, but the armor was extremely heavy compared to it's earlier counterparts and difficult to repair because it was so thick. In time it eventually fell out of use duo to these reasons.

Blocking a musket ball with a sword is physically impossible (in real life mind you, not a fantasy game where you quite possible could become a god-like being) unless you have the reflexes of a god, an extremely strong blade, and enough strength to prevent the sword from being knocked back into you. Like someone said though, early muskets were horribly inaccurate despite the deadliness they presented.

Miekkas is right. I mean, muskets were only effective because they could be fired into a group and expected to hit something... Anyways, armor or no, getting hit by a musket ball would still put in a good sized dent, and it would be really stupid.

Agreed. The whole purpose of the stereotype horizontal formation that the British Redcoats were famous for was because it was unfortunately the only effective way to hit their opponents.

I've always wondered why simple bows, which probably could be more effective in accuracy and rate of fire, were not used in favor of muskets until more accurate firearms were developed since the only thing that made firearms better was their damage to armor (which wasn't even worn anymore!)

i think that the guns should be balanced with their reload time and not their strength. thats the more realistic path anyway

also if it was to be more realistic it would depend on where the hero would be hit to see how much damage a gun would do cause if you get shot in the leg you can still fight but a headshot would be lethal.

And seeing as muskets aren't that accurate the chance of you dieing quickly from a gunshot are small

I'm wondering if ball and cap is the same as muskets. Used to shoot ball and cap, and got quite good at it.

Thunder and fire!

The musket is a much more.... impressive... weapon than a bow when fired. The "sticks that shoot lightning" could put the fear of God/Satan/Pink elephant in most people who were used to other weapons.

That's Pink Unicorn

I see your point though. Even today a good number of people can be easily scared by firearms.
