Gun v Sword
Its been a long time since ive been on it was like 10-27-07 but anyways im back so a question has been bugging for a long time.If there are guns in fable 2 and if you face off against someone and your weilding a sword, how would that work out? Coundt they finish you off before you get a chance to get to them.Or what if your right in front of them and there just shootin you or you shoot them from afar.woundt that be to easy espicially if their like shotguns? If theres armor then would the guns be useless if the armor just deflects it SO what im saying is if guns are gonna be in the game....how would close combat work out? What if a person dosent like to use guns in Fable 2 will they have no chocie but to do so if there fighting some gun weilding bandit? If there such things like headshots coundt you aim at a enemies head or can they do it to you? I dont think a sword can block a bullet..........so can someone explain to me how this would work out.....excuse me if this has been answered in another thread before

Re: Gun v Sword
I didn't see the other topic so i will adress your question. We already know that you can block in Fable 2. You will most likely than not have a system of combat for the blocking so that you can protect from any bullet fired at you, but not with ease.

Re: Gun v Sword
each type if combat, gun sword magic, is on a different button and also you can use your experience towards the type of combat you like... the guns will be very primiive and thus not over powered... magic will also probably help against bullets... im sure it will be fine

Re: Gun v Sword
depending on how primitive the guns are they may not be able to pierce through some kinds of armor maybe?

Re: Gun v Sword
Is armour in? I don't think full heavy armour like the plate mail armour in Fable 2 will suit the new time slot. I don't think their were fully armoured troops around this time. The most you would get would probably be a cuirass of some sort.
PM said that you will be rewarded for using combinations of melee, ranged and magic attacks. so maybe it would be best to just shoot them. however i doubt that the ranged target is going to be say 100 or 150 metres away. Your character should be able to reach them and slice them up before they can decimate you with bullets.
In the early previews the dog attacked the melee enemies if you took out your ranged weapon. Making it easier for you to pick off your foes. If the AI is similar to this for enemies you'd think that groups of enemies will have 2 or 3 melee fighters and a gunman. So you would probably have to deal with the melee opponents before you could even think about attacking the ranged opponent, and whether or not you will whip out your gun or your sword to fiunish off the last foe. Which reminds me if you take out your sword your dog will target the ranged opponents first.

Re: Gun v Sword
Primitive guns as in muskets would not be very accurate, so it's likely bandits would miss as often as they do with crossbows in Fable TLC.

I like the idea of guns appearing in Fable 2 But I would rather use a Longbow instead of a gun

Re: Gun v Sword
I don't think we have to worry about guns being over-powered. In theory, so should an arrow or bolt. An arrow or bolt to the torso is most often as lethal as a bullet, if not worse due to the mass of the projectile.
But Role-playing games have been using those for ages and got it to be balanced.

Re: Gun v Sword
Games don't work as reality does.
A single shot from a gun wouldn't kill the enemy immediatly, it would cause damage.

Re: Gun v Sword
Nope, but you've probably pretty much won the fight anyway, had it worked like in reality.

Re: Gun v Sword
Guns and Melee weapons will both do damage probably in relatively equal amounts. Melee will be better close up due to a broader attack spectrum and maybe speed. Guns will be better at a distance for obvious reasons Though I hope you'll be able to throw and axe that would be awesome

Hmm, ax throwing. I can almost see it. If we can throw bottles, and chairs, possibly weapons as well?

There is such weapon as a Throwing Axe which is similar to the Throwing Knife so I honestly don't see why not.
