this one I found in an old notebook this morning... it's a couple of years old... thought I'd post it anyway...

Frozen

the winter inside has seeped in me somehow
it's starting to turn down the lights
my head is so numb and my hands are so cold
I just haven't the strength left to fight
cracks in the ice of what's left of my mind
I'm holding the wedge in my hand
do I turn on my heart and smash myself apart?
when the pieces fall, where will I land?
I've been to the edge of what lurks in my head
when all that I feared became real
I was the devil that night and though I can't say I liked it
at least it was something to feel
frozen in time at this point, at this point in my life, at the edge of a knife
it's all turning black as the blade in my back
I'm turning down all of the lights

They had a dream
To make themselves
Remake their hearts
With green plasticine

They worked so hard
Was hardly worth it
All they built
Just fell and wilted
Majestic towers
Symbols of power
But we could not stand
Would not play
They built us tall
then watched us fall
they faltered as we altered
we could not remain unmade
they made us all the same within
without their help we made ourselves
I couldn’t say what I became
But I’ve become myself
They shout and cry
As though we’d died
We could not be
What they would be
We’re left unseen
Green plasticine
Left to dry and crumble
We walk alone and stumble
Down the path that isn’t there
And we brace to take the stares
They watch with hate
At all they’ve made
Their walking talking
Broken dreams
They made us so we’d be
But all we can be is green plasticine
