I think changing hair color and hair styles would be enough. It gives more of a "THE hero" feeling to me. Besides, total customization would bring Fable closer to a regular RPG.

PS! I think Oblivion`s face morphing wasn`t that good, Sims 2 has a lot better one.

Re: How Deep do the wish character customization is?

i can almost guarantee that the face morphing, if any, will be fairly minor. 1stly can't really go from none to full on face morphing, 2ndly wd make it v. difficult for them to make the alignment etc. changes meaningful, as you couldn't predict all that well what would happen for each minor change of face. Possibly a choice of a few pre-designed faces, like in some others (such as my vast experience of mmorpgs- Conquer Online and Shaiya).

yeah i agree with Father of Skorm, in the sense that there won't be much, if any at all face customizations, but i remember hearing about PM saying that the characters will always be the same at the start, but what we do during the game evolves the character uniquely.

i think all u can do is follow the alignment traits, for example good/ evil nd corrupt/pure. u can get tats, hairstyles AND now u can dye ur own clothes.

I hope the evil heroes aren`t bald... though it seems this way on the box art. The demon is completely bald, I hope theres another evil as well - kinda like vampires.

I think there's tanning from being in the sun, but skin color will all be the same at first. We just pick boy or girl, and then the morphing from different decisions, do the rest. Maybe there's face makeup, I know there's some.

I hope you can pick stuff like height and weight. I know you wont be able to but that would be cool. I realize all that stuff would change depending on what you do but just your characters general frame. Other than that, I'm cool. I know you can do all the hair stuff and with all the different clothes, nobody should really look the same.

Re: How Deep do the wish character customization is?

Don't know if anyone cares but here's my thoughts on the whole matter:

Since PM is making a game that's suppose to appeal to the mass gamer and non gamer alike, character customization in the beginning will be near non-existent. The reason for this is because he's PLAYED games like Oblivion and Final Fantasy and such. What made games like that unapproachable when it came to the average gamer? The extreme amount of customization of nuances. I will give some examples---

In Oblivion, how many of us can honestly say we created our character within 30 minutes? I'll tell you right now my first character didn't get out into the world until well after an HOUR of noodling with it and running through that first stupid dungeon in the castle catacombs.

Now as far as final fantasy goes, I'm quite aware that there is no customization in terms of looks, but just the customization of characters in general can take hours. Lets take FFVII: Who thought it was a ****ing NIGHTMARE to reorganize your materia after Yuffie stole it. Jesus that was one of the most annoying points in the game because I had every character running on 100% and that little cripple just rearranged everything.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts. Anyone agree? Disagree?

I agree with the materia, except I liked doing all that. But that's just the type of gamer I am. To an average gamer, materia and the turn based fights would drive you crazy. As for oblivion, yeah it took me a while to make my first character. My second character, I didn't really care much what he looked like, I had a helmet on most of the time anyways. With Fable 2 though, I think they should allow minor stuff at the beginning like skin color, eyes, hair style (that you start with). Very minor stuff. Even that what I just listed doesn't really matter too much so if there is no customization at the beginning, I won't really care.

Re: How Deep do the wish character customization is?

Hm, I haven't played either of those, but Mass Effect is kinda like that, It takes me around 20 minutes to customize the girl Paragon, cause the set one isn't pretty. I don't want to spend time customizing the Hero. He has a certain look and feel, that represents Fable. He's a direct connection to the original bloodline. It stands to reason he would resemble his family, from long ago. The Albion Tales.

Re: How Deep do the wish character customization is?

as far as i know, the customization of a character is not all that detailed, you have the choice of male or female (no choice in skin color, facial features, nothing).

As you journey through you make decisions and based on those you will start to morph into those actions.

For body and sculpting appearances, if you choose mainly a sword class then you get big and bulky, choose gun then you get tall and skinny, choose magic then you get glowing veins something like too human.

those are the customization base...

from what ive seen/read

o yea, i forgot to mention hairstyles, but that doesnt really dramatically change your appearance like certain games where you can choose different faces, skin tones, races etc... like in oblivion
