I am currently going through the archaeologist quests and i'm stuck trying to find item 8 " in a cave near a beach close to where a previous item was found "
I know it's in the Westcliff area but my faithful companion seems to have a cold !!!!!!! please help !!!!!

Well, the 8th item is is Westcliff, but the description sounds like it's leading you to the item in Gemstone Grotto. If it is indeed the Westcliff item, try going down to the beach where the ship took you to the Spire. My dog didn't lead me to the Westcliff item until I was there. If it is the Gemstone Grotto item, here are the directions to Gemstone Grotto: Quick travel to the Hobbe's Cave in Rookridge, go outside to the beach right outside the doorway, get into the water, turn 90 degrees to your right, swim to the beach ahead of you, and follow the pathway to the Gemstone Grotto door.

I thought it was the beach down by the Temple of Shadows... Meh, it's been a while since I've done this quest.
