Damn, are you ignorant or what? You is WRONG. Americans can't be knighted because the Constitution bans it because we were trying toa void aristocracy like the plague. But anyone can be knighted, and they don't have to be knighted by the Brits.

Oh, and Man, sorry, but I have a very liberal interpretation of "American." The Swiss girl in one of my classes last year was highly insulted. "You're American." "No I'm not, I'm going back next year!" "Too bad. For now, you're American. Congrats."

Not that it's an important part of the constitution, and not that any knighting actually means anything, but still, we oughter stick to our principles.

All I know is that there are a honorary knighthoods given to Americans. Bush Snr and Reagan being two others I know of as well as a few US Army Generals.

I don't think it really matters either way - friggin Mugabe of all people had a knighthood until June this year...they give them out to anyone these days...

Some UK civil servants get honours as a perk of the job...which further undermines the whole concept...
