I had the same problem with my last character, turns out I had simply missed a cupboard in Bowerstone North .

Just make sure you raid all the houses in every village and all the guild bookcases (including the ones in the demon door, just turn on your lamp to open it). Don't worry if you can't get into the orchard farm house, it's only open during the trader escort quest, and the book you get from there (The Rotten Apple) is "too advanced" for the teacher's purposes.

You can tell that he's given you the key by the fact that he doesn't mention books anymore, he just turns into another village idiot (usually with a heart above his head).

Spoiler concerning 30-key chest:

If you ask me the 30-key chest is a bit dissapointing. You get one of each gem (including a rare Amethyst gem) and 'The Avenger', a relatively weak sword (since by then you have either the Sword of Aeons or Avo's tear or even both ) whose only strength is killing hobbes. Since it has fire and lightning augmentations, it does more damage per hit to hobbes than Avo's Tear/Sword of Aeons, but not enough to make a difference as it takes the same amount of hits to kill any type of Hobbe, making it rather useless.

If you use the shovel trick at the beginning of the game in the original Fable, you can access Bowerstone North. Lady Grey isn't there, but you can enter her house...

hmm i got all 30 keys and didn't marry lady grey. i think u just have to not acsept the marrage or get to the last bit befor marrying her and then expose thee evil little teddy bear. tho i spose no1 is gunna read this
