Back in 2005 a South Korean man died after playing StarCraft for 50 hours in an internet café.

Psychologist Professor Mark Griffiths told the BBC that playing excessively was "not a problem" for the majority of gamers, but warned that online addiction is becoming a phenomenon for a small minority.

"They are the types of games that completely engross the player. They are not games that you can play for 20 minutes and stop," he said.

"It is not taken seriously yet - it is the same for internet addiction."

Several clinics have already been set-up in China to treat "internet addiction," although we suspect it'll be a long time before the treatment is available to even a small portion of the country's 140 million internet users.

Talk about a bad way to go...

Albeit extremely stupid and unnecessary. The day I sit at a computer crapping my pants and starving because I can't be bothered to fill my basic human needs... Yeah. Not gonna happen.

Read about this in the paper, these people must have serious problems if they cant walk away from the computers to rest for a while or eat, drink or go to bathroom.

Wow, a ****ty way to die, and all he got out of it was, most likely, a few level gains. At least dying by having an erection too long you've done something better than sitting on your *** for 72 hours.

Yeah, i read your thread on it last year, and it's pretty sad that these guys are just too lazy to keep themselves alive with such easy tasks.

I mean, how hard is it to "PAUSE" the game? I mean, it's not going anywhere, I can understand them not sleeping because of the game. But not eating, or using the bathroom? and for 3-days non-stop...well, it's just suicide and crazy.

Seriously, how hard is it to Pause the game, get up and grab a snack, and take a ****? Not hard at all, and at the least it only takes 3-5 minutes of your gaming time.

If they are playing online then there is often no pause

As much as I love gaming I wouldn't want to die plying it
I want want to pass away while taking a nap in the middle of the afternoon when I'm 110. Preferably in a sunbeam. I'm thinking 2080 June.

There may be no pause, but there is at least an AFK generally. Or in other games, you could always leave to do something else after a match.

At any rate, this always bugs the hell out of me, because it makes it sound like people aren't responsible for their own stupidity anymore. I wouldn't even want to play a game THAT long. >_<"
