Microsoft has reportedly announced that the Xbox 360 HD DVD Drive will be subject to a European price cut.

According to eFluxMedia, Microsoft announced Wednesday at consumer electronics trade fair IFA in Germany that the recommended retail price of the Xbox 360 HD DVD Drive would be cut by €20 to €180.

While the report didn’t make any mention of a date from which the price cut would be effective, it’s highly possible that such a move is imminent. Microsoft last month dropped the cost of the HD DVD Drive in the US from $199.99 to $179.99.

The 360 HD DVD add-on currently retails in the UK for £115.

Next-Gen has contacted Microsoft for confirmation of the report.

Yeah, but I probably won't buy one still. I'm satisfied with just the standard definition of DVD.

I dont watch that many movies to buy one and still use my PS2 as my DVD player but price cuts are always welcome.

Yeah, the UK got the same price-cut aswell, so i definitely imagine the same will happen elsewhere. But as you said Todd, the majority of people don't own HDTV's, so the HD-DVD price-cut isn't really of any concern for them.

But its a good thing for those of us who do, but like i said i dont watch enough movies to buy one but i might do in future when more and more HD movies come out.
