Does Pluto still count though? I've gotten very confused over its specific classification...

Re: Mnemonic Device Game! (Roy G Biv et al)

But I don't know where he/she has been....

Ok, I'll behave - I actually use music to remember things like my PIN number, account details and telephone numbers - I sit at the piano, play a really simple tune and each note represents a number (which helps with my somewhat severe dyslexia).

I can still remember the tune for my first ever PIN which I received when I was 11...(plus my card was orange with a cat on it...I loved that bank account...)

Re: Mnemonic Device Game! (Roy G Biv et al)

Well this is interesting, but it doesn't seem to wor too well as a game. Oh, well...

Oh, and on the planet one? The one I learned was "My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas". Of course, now she Just Served Us Nine, as in there are Nine of us, she didn't serve us Pizza. Pluto ISN'T a planet. On the upside, now it, Ceres, and a couple others are Dwarf Planets, so it all balances out.

And we got the PEMDAS/Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally, too.

Oh, and I'll just slap up another mnemonic too, but this one might be specific to this one teacher at my school:

"My Goodness, But Eating Hot Nachos Causes Pain"

I learned that from one of my nephews. I learn a lot from them. Goodness knows I didn't learn it while in school

Re: Mnemonic Device Game! (Roy G Biv et al)

Hmmmm... so it isn't exclusive to that one teacher... or you're really good at guessing what these things mean. I like it, but I occasionally mess up the same way you did and say "Ecuador", which is South American instead of "El Salvador" which is Central. I've never said "Cuba" instead of "Costa Rico" though. Guess I'm just lucky.

I can't believe that I forgot what HOMES was-- I never used it, but my sister was big on going, "Hey, [Walker], do you know what HOMES stands for?"... and then I forgot about it.

Oh, and I'm excited so I'll do another-- this is one I made up, but what it says is a clue to what it helps remember:

Columbus Found Green Vegetables By Bolivar's Continent, Exclaiming So Ardently: "Pinzon, Go Puck Urself!" (Note: "Found Green" stands for a two-word thing, and yourself is misspelled for a reason.)
