Scarecrow speaks truth. The dog would very rarely search out treasure and dig spots until I bought a book that raised it's search to level 2. I don't know how many levels there are total.

My dog is an awesome treasure finder especially in dark caves where I can see practically nothing. He even dug up a book for me that made him a better treasure hunter =) It was just in bowerlake somewhere.
