It was a joke, Skotekal, I am well aware of what a "meter" is. It was meant to be funny in that I was confused by what a meter was, yet I didn't notice anything in the rest of the story. Jokes like that are difficult to convey over the internet...

My job allows me to not have to speak to anyone. I basically load cargo trucks, then unload them, then repeat.

Lucky you. When I'm not shelving (which really sucks) I have to deal with mostly-idiotic customers all day.
