Need your opinions

Okay, all I need from you is to vote in the poll and leave a statement about your opinion of the Death Penalty/Capital Punishment. My friend is doing an essay and he asked me to make a poll on here to get your opinions and to see who are for or against it. I don't want to debate this, I don't even want to make this thread, but being the loyal friend I am I have an obligation.

well... I'm against the death penalty, as it's impractical in terms of deterrance...

Basically it's a confusing subject, i put Yes, because its more effcient, i know that its not always practical. I still think they should turn UK owned Antartica into a penial colony, basically cause if they escaped there not much chance of survival.

Kill them. An uncooperative and unproductive individual who interferes with society as a whole is a detriment to society. Death is a quick and permanent solution to the burden on society of caring for these individuals who choose not to be productive. Getting rid of the problem quickly releases resources that would have been better spent elsewhere.

However, the innocent must not be faultily executed. For cases where execution will be the outcome, a minimum and a maximum time frame for investigation should be established based upon the severity of the case.

If you kill someone out of malice, you don't deserve to do it again.

USA is one of the few countries that still has it, yet it doesn't have any less rate of murders than any other country . infact, they've got alot more of them than, for example, Sweden. So I am against it for several reasons:

There are no proof that the threat of death penalty stops murders.

Spending the rest of your life in jail, rotting away and getting night-time visits by a big black guy named Bubba, is a far more fitting punishment for taking someone's life.

With life time in prision you've still got a chance to be proven innocent if you truly are, like advances in criminal science(DNA-testing for example. Wasn't many years ago people didn't even know what it was) that proves you didn't do it. If you get executed and then they find out you were innocent - what are they supposed to do? This isn't fantasy with a Raise Dead spell.

ok this is kinda hard for me to decide personaly. im kinda for it because child melesters and rapest in my opinion deserve to die. how ever if u kill them they really dont learn anything at all also if they are innocent the cant apeal if theyr dead.life in prison really gives them time to think about what they did but even then theyr not going to get out to do things differintly next time kind damned if u do damned if ya dont. but let them stay and think dont kill em atleast not if there is any doubt that they might be innocent. Ravan good call about the uk owned artica prison.and it is more caust effecient to kill them it takes a lot of tax paiers dollars to keep them and only a few bucks to kill them and prisons are getting over run with inmates. why do the sterolize the needle befor the leathel injection lol just wondering doesint make much sence the injection will kill them long befor tetnus . sry this post was so lond it's just a complacated question

I believe that in the extreme cases where the death penalty is a consideration it is not about deterrence but about vengeance or closure. Can I imagine a situation where I would be in favor of the death penalty? Unfortunately Yes I can. Do I think that it benefits society as a whole? No I think it perpetuates the cycle of violence.
