Re: No shiny new swords?
dude.... we better not be stuck with stupid rapiers. if rapiers are in it, fine, but they better not take out the REAL swords! i dont use ranged much so i dont care about the guns. guns are nice.

Re: No shiny new swords?
I`d like to see one-edged swords, like katanas. Katanas in Fable were too short and "fat", I`d like to see them as they really are.
And also BIG swords and small swords and daggers and axes and stuff.

Lots of weapons are meant for stabbing only. If we take the ancient Romans, they used their short swords to stab from the cover of their shield.
Cover, stab, cover, stab, cover, stab etc...

He meant no classic bows.
Instead of bows there will be only Crossbows and Guns.

Thought the period was a comma. Whoops, I feel dumb. Horribly nearsighted. Glad to hear I'm wrong.

As a fencer (SCA not Olympic) and studier of sword arts, I am deeply insulted. Unless you have studied and handled rapiers on a trained fashion, I'd suggest staying silent instead making such uninformed claims.

You are underestimating the power of stabbing.

It is not about being easily insulted, it is about him being ignorant about a subject and making brash comments about it. Now if he said something a little more moderate such, "I dislike rapiers due the fighting style that they entail", that would be a different story, but instead he went into a seemingly ranting temper tantrum-like state similar to a child.
Reread the comment he made that I quoted. At that point, there is absolutely no mention of the game, but instead his comments are directed at the weapon in general.
It is easy for you to say,"You are too easily insulted" when you are not the one being insulted. I have serious doubts that at in no point in your life have not been insulted by someone or something.
I shall leave it at that as my closing argument because my comments are detracting from the subject at hand at this point, and I fear a full-blown argument will break out if I continue to contribute.

Re: No shiny new swords?
Not trying to start an argument here but i don't see why your'e so upset about him disliking rapiers with a passion?
i mean that's his opinion and he's entitled to say that rapiers suck and all that i mean i don't get upset when people say kendo has no point even if they don't know what they're talking about mainly because i realise that to them kendo really does SUCK!
but hopefully he might go into fable 2 and find out that rapiers aren't that bad!
and i don't think Peter would take out everyone's favourite Big slashy swords mainly on the mute point that he doesn't want to receive anymore death-threats from unhappy nit-pickers
sorry for the little speech that's just my two cents

I understand that and I have nothing against short swords. but if you actually saw a rapier you would understand what im talking about. its long and heavy and mostly used for dueling so it wouldn't be of much use in battle. and most rapiers are just to look pretty. i think the rapier is the only sword i truly dislike.

well i ment no offence and i didnt mean to sound like a child. i can see the point of a rapier and i was refering more to the old kind. all i ment was i reallly hope that they didnt take out all the other swords and just left us with rapiers. that comment was really just to be funny and i see now that it was rather childish and for that i am sorry. i just get rather passionate with what i want to see in fable 2. i really dont want to start an argument here and i see your point. i really truly am sorry. but just for the record i am not totally unedgucated about rapiers cuz i did do a report on weapons of shakespears time and that was the type of rapier i was refering to. but i do admit that you definetlly know more about swords than me. sorry!

Re: No shiny new swords?
Miekkas, hope I spelled that right.
I'm looking forward to the swords, as some us won't be muscle bond and need to be swift. I plan on using a lot of magic. I've seen some clips of the sword play where you can pin people up against a wall with the sword. Peter talked about being able to stab 2 people at once with the sword, when your skilled enough. And if I'm friendly enough with the blacksmith, possibly neat upgrades to be had for it?
