Will women only accept certain houses when they say you have to buy a house in order to get married or should any house be fine? I just bought a new house and 2 npcs I talked to tell me to go buy a house. After exiting the bar in Oakvale, turn left and go up the path. It's the first house on the right. I realized I could lead people away from their houses and through one of the exits to another game area. Then I could buy the house. So that's what I did. Now the house is mine. There's the sign out front asking if I want to sell it or rent it. The npcs won't accept it. I already own the house nearby that was available from the start. I own 2 buildings in Bowerstone too. I got the second one by leading the owner away and Lady Grey accepted that house (she wanted me to buy one). So what's the problem with this house in Oakvale?

The only houses that you can invite a person to marry you in are martial (I think that what they are called, it's been a while ) homes. Go up that hill you talked about, and look at the sign for the last house on the left. The sign should say "Buy this martial home?"

You're right; it doesn't say "Buy this marital home"; it says "Buy this building". So what you said makes sense but there's a problem. The house "up that hill" is "the house nearby" I already own. Every time I go there, my current wife is using the bed. That's another thing that doesn't make sense. How can anyone call it a "marital home" when it only has a single-size bed? That's why I went looking for another house. I see no way of telling occupied marital homes from occupied non-marital homes unless I kill everybody, run around looking for a marital home, reload when I find one, and then get rid of the owners of just that house. There might not even be another marital home in Oakvale.

I believe there's only one per town. Never remembered more then one...

There should be a second sign outside of the martial home that lets you upgrade the house, after a few upgrades you get a larger bed (I think)
