Now that most other games are online , doesn't necessarily mean boom there is online play, but look at

Multiplayer for Fable 2 has been confirmed at the 2007 E3 event and on the official website. Peter announced that this will be a risky procedure and players will either love it or hate it. Multiplayer in Fable 2 is played through
Xbox Live or system link. It allows a host to invite up to 3 other Fable 2 players into their Albion to train, finish quests and so forth. Although the game is still in development, Peter explains that the Lionhead team are trying to make a feature which allows the invites to interact with the game's NPCs. As well as this it has been said that there will also be multiplayer quest which will be harder than the single player quest, duels between 2 or more players and a clan feature. Although the multiplayer for Fable 2 has been confirmed, the multiplayer features are still in progress and are not the final result of anything. The public are due to find out more at the E3 conference in May 2008.
Now problem is any bafoon can write on Wikipedia, and I'm to lazy to look farther on the net. I think we must wait till next weeks GDC 2008
