Possible Darkwood Glitch?

I was going through the Darkwood Trader Escort mission again last night when I reached the point where you have your first encounter with a balverine. When I got into that area (the Darkwood Marshes, I believe), I suddenly realized that I hadn't told the traders to wait in Darkwood Entrance while I took down the balverine. So, before the balverine could attack, I backtracked with the traders to the Darkwood Entrance. Then I told them to wait as I continued on. However, when I entered the Marshes area again, the balverine was gone. Poof! Disappeared! It was very strange, IMO.

Has this ever happened to any of you? If not, you might want to try it to see whether it makes that mission a little bit easier for you.

I don't make the traders "Wait" I hate that expression people usually run away cause I'm scary.
So no, I've never gotten that problem.

I did skip the part where he turns into a balverine and fought the Troll First then I had to back track, THEN he turned into a balverine it was weird.

Just to clarify, I'm not talking about the trader who turns into a balverine if you take him with you...I'm talking about the balverine that's shown in a cut-scene eating a bandit before you encounter it. That's the one that disappeared in my game.

Yes, Ihave had this happen to me as well.
I discovered this by accident...it is very handy if you are not not very high in XP.
The only thing that I can see that you gain from fighting the balverine is some extra hit points.

Oh Sephiroxas...you can get past the last part of this quest without the trader turning into a balverine...

I figured as much, because I had to go BACK in order for him to turn into the balverine, I was right next to the door, I should've gone through.

Right...all you have to do is refuse to help him.
