I do like the "5 Post Idea".
I agree with that idea personally. If they haven't been banned before making 5 posts, I guess we can trust them enough... hopefully.

Aight - who's the guy pretending to be me? I know I voted for the forth option, and I'm fairly sure I'm the only "me" around...

Re: Possible New Rule

What about people who want to introduce themselves or ask a question without staying here for any longer. It`s not a big problem, but many wouldn`t want to post 5 (pointless) posts before being able to ask what they want.

And the other thing, if I report spam/porn etc, do I have to comment something in the comment post, I`ve reported a couple of times lately and can`t think of anything to write. Or is "spam" or "porn" enough?

That should usually do it. You could get creative and write "Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Baked Beans and Spam"

Soon as its reported the comment usually lets us know the nature of the spam or whatever but it isnt that important as its usually quite evident.

Re: Possible New Rule

I reckon every new thread by a member with less than 10 posts should simply be Checked by a member of Staff before being posted.

Re: Possible New Rule

In theory that is fine but in practice that would be a hell of a lot of extra work for us - particularly if we get an influx of new registrations...

Re: Possible New Rule

What if there was a mod that would search the title of a post for keywords such as "porn", "sex", "incest", etc and if there are those words in it, then it doesn't get posted, and the poster gets redirected to a "please change title" page.

And you could even add to that a filter that searches the post for those keywords and if there is any in there then the post is posted, but brought to the attention of the mods for checking.

Less work for the mods, but more work for the server so it's probably out of the question

Re: Possible New Rule

I'm a little confused. I don't think I've seen any spam like you've discribed.
Am I suppose to ask someone, if I can start a new thread? It seems if that was to happen the person who has to ok, that would be bogged down with checking em all. And why would such threads appear on a fable forum in the first place? I'm sorry, I don't know what the new rule would be, to vote on?

OK, I reread everything twice. I voted.

Re: Possible New Rule

Or, Building off Arsefaces suggestion, maybe have posts/threads that have the particular words in them be checked out by a mod first.

That wouldn't be as much work as Droded's suggestion. But basically the same thing.

i have a slightly better idea. i used to be a Halo 3 Forum admin and what we did was that you needed 10 posts before you can post a new thread another thing the ranking system was based on noob level that you actually needed to post useful and (long enough) posts for them to count (3 word posts and such didnt count toward your total posts) after you got like 20 posts then you were allowed to become the higher titles. the equavalent here would be "hero" "champion" and such. i hope this helps

A lot of people come here looking for technical help though and start out with the one thread asking for help and then move on from that.
