PS3 Home
Sonys 'Home' idea combines ideas like Myspace, Sims, Second Life, and Nintendo Wii's Mii feature and is a 'Virtual' environment where people can talk to one another, explore different areas of the environment, and play multiplayer games together. Each avatar/Persona will be given a room, which you can adorn with all the accomplishments you receive when succeeding in various PS3 games, plus clothe your avatar/Persona in various items. Put online any personal videos, photos or files stored on your PS3 that you may have to show to any online friends you meet, however MP3s have not been discussed as yet. Its beta testing is due to be carried out this April, with the full service going live in Autumn of 2007.

Re: PS3 Home
Now that looks sexy! This Playstation home thing looks pretty awesome. I wonder if Microsoft will follow suit and come up with something similar for Xbox Live?

As impressive and new as the feature looks i cant say id ever get involved that deeply with it, maybe use it to hook up with freinds to play some games but thats all.

Re: PS3 Home
As with any feature of that nature, it will depend largely on your personal character as to whether you will choose to immerse yourself in that kind of community or just crack on with gaming as it is. I can see exactly the appeal but I'm a little wary of these kinds of features...call me a cynic, but a system like this is easily abused...just like chat rooms...

Re: PS3 Home
I think that Sony scored a slam dunk with this one and I'm sure Microsoft is scrambling to come up with something similar that doesn't get them into legal trouble.
Good work Andy!

Re: PS3 Home
Thanks, I mean yes that would be cool but Wii already has it along with others as drakan said so I guess ps3 is just steeling another idea...

Re: PS3 Home
I think it will appeal to a lot of people and is a genius idea by Sony but they will need more if they hope to gain ground back in the console wars.

Re: PS3 Home
The more I consider it, the more I actually am less inclined to make use of this feature, should I ever buy a PS3...seems like everyone is hell bent on making us less interactive with the real world for the sake of a virtual community.
I've met so many people who have dazzling online social skills, but in reality lack the capacity to hold a semi-intelligent conversation with a real human being. Just my 2 pence worth or whatever.

See? And it doesn't matter if you're, like, 300 years old or not either...

Re: PS3 Home
Cool, but it aint gonna make me buy a PS3.
You can wrap a turd in golden candy wrapper and call it a bon-bon, but it would still be a turd.
