Well, I actually think I can answer this question.

The helmet is of magiscientifical properties which actually put the horns into a vector trap, manipulating space to "compress" the horns onto the head so that they will still be connected yet still compact

So what I'm trying to get at here is, well, they just disappear so hurry up and enjoy the damn game.
