Re: RELIGION Discussion
No offense, but what you said sounded like some lunatic, semi-coherent rambling.
And I must say-- very impressive that Church of England (or any other, for that matter) managed to create such a hoax in agreement with the Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, all the many Protestants (real ones, not "Pope-won't-annul-our-king's-marriage" ones), and (to top it all off) the Muslims and to some degree the Jews. I'd say you just completely proved the guy who said religions cause hate wrong. Obviously they cooperate very well indeed.

Re: RELIGION Discussion
No, the need to control causes war. The natural state of a human being is war. There will never be peace as long a a human being exists on earth. Fighting for religion is just a symptom of the function of a human being.

I'm agnostic.
I also agree with what cometojames said. About the religious books being tampered with, and how no one really KNOWS what happened.
Also the chances of their being a god. Just watching over THIS planet doesn't make very much sense to me. The universe is vast, and expansive. "god" can't just be watching this planet.

Another thing, why if the idea of an alien so far fetched, come on theres billions and billions of light years undiscovered out there, i'll bet were just an experiment from another alien planet and the idea of war is entertaining to them along with religion.

Re: RELIGION Discussion
Oh by the way, please no "factual" responses. Religion is what people individually believe. Nothing to do with fact or fiction.
Cometojames, not everyone follows a book though. "Book religion" examples are Roman chaothlic, and christian.

Well, I'm an Atheist honestly. I just made the "jump" from agnosticism to atheism a couple of months ago and am scared to death of telling my mother. Only people that know family wise is my father and younger brother. But now I'm rambling and I don't need to trouble you all with the details lol.

Re: RELIGION Discussion
Through all this conflict I think many of us can agree that maintaining a super-strict religious adherence is very difficult in our day and age. I honestly have never forced my religion upon anyone and yet I get persecuted for simply saying I'm a Christian who believes in the Bibles word. I'm no fanatic, but I don't believe I should take **** for having a belief and putting my hope in some sort of faith.

Re: RELIGION Discussion
I have a theory aswell! I don't think that Christianity (just picking this one coz it's the biggest in terms of number of adherents... I think) would be anywhere near as widespread as it is if Rome hadn't adopted it as its state religion... Rome was the most powerful empire at the time, and it pretty much conquered all of Europe... Which was all there was at the time, apart from the bits on the map that said "here be dragons"...

Re: RELIGION Discussion
Why is it that some of those who claim God does not exist are so hell bent on proving it to everyone else? It shouldn't matter at all to you. Why waste your time proving the non-existence of someone? I don't believe fairies exist and therefore I feel no reason to prove this to people. I simply do not believe in their existence. It's like when people use the Bible to prove God doesn't exist - why? Surely, if God does not exist, then the Bible is a load of crap and of no use to you in order to prove your side of the argument because it holds no explanations which are true.
It shouldn't matter to you that others believe God exists because in your mind, He doesn't. That should be enough, surely?

Re: RELIGION Discussion
I am a satanist, in the LaVey-an kind of way. Well, atleast more than anything else. I prefer not to label myself...
(Btw, By satan i dont mean the christian satan, but the word satan (hebrew, im pretty sure) that means, roughly, "He whose its duty is to seek the truth")

Re: RELIGION Discussion
This is one of the main reasons why I became a Satanist.
A religion where the thing to worship is yourself and your desires. And I don't see nobody arguing about me starting a war, or debating the very existence of The Holy Me. Could care less about some "God" or "heaven" that I can't see or experience in "this life". This life is now, on earth. People want to get angry and even kill each other because of their religion, that's fine. Or even live their lives peacefully, what do I know.
I however will do what I can do get the most out of my life.
Oh and Angel, the reason why people are hellbent on disproving God is because so many silly Christian fanatics and organizations go to such extreme lengths to prove that he/she does exist and that we need to join them in order to avoid going to hell for eternity for our so-called sins.
Not saying that all Christians are like that, but those that are damage the general view of Christians in most people's eyes.

Re: RELIGION Discussion
The most hated family in America... they sicken m, in there case i hope there is a hell, they've corrupted there hole family and church, its wrong, immoral and pathetic... but in response to angel's view I, being frank, am more concerned about the Muslim religion (no offense) but its growing in extremist numbers, and these numbers are out to kill any none believers. I think its not about who's right of wrong its just that you have faith, your hearts are in the place but you've just got to wake up "quote dogma"
