I think each member should have a bar they would start out in the middle of this bar as a yellow colour when they make good posts and threads it goes to the right side and turns green. when they make not so good posts (exp:innapropriacy or offensive.) it would go to the left and turn red.

yeah you have to get a certain amount of rep. poitns before you can get more green dots.

The current reputation system we have in use at the moment uses a method virtually identical to what you just described.
