It's not hard... It's just I think he said the question wrong.

He said how many kittens, cats, sacks and wives did I pass... So I said you didnt pass any, you only passed the guy.

I believe that was the point... riddles will often try to throw you off, that's why they're riddles and not simple math or english problems... much like the riddle you yourself gave in which the "words that end in -gry" had nothing at all to do with the question... the kits, cats and wives had nothing to do with this one...

Re: Riddles for Rep Points

You don't understand. The riddle I gave made sense. The riddle Todd gave didn't. If he was asking for how many Kittens, cats, sacks and wives he was passing the answer would be none. However if he included men in the list, then the answer would be 1.

I think I do understand... and I think they both made sense... that's how I got them...
the man was mentioned... he's the first one mentioned... and the kits, cats and wives at the end is not a list... it's just there to make it all rhyme and throw you off... so you'll think about them instead of the man you've been talking to... if you know the kits, cats and wives aren't there, then you know the man must be or who else told you about them?

Re: Riddles for Rep Points

Todd passed by the guy, and I assume that Todd already knew he had wives etc.

What I'm saying is Todd probably phrased the question wrong, or he has the answer wrong. If Bob (an example) passes an old man on the street, and the old man told him about his wife and pets. And then Bob then asks someone else how many wives and pets of the old man did he pass, then the answer is definitely zero, because the old man is not his own wife or pet.

Re: Riddles for Rep Points

The man with the wifes and sacks cats and kittens was coming from St Ives hence why I passed them. I was the only one going to St Ives. Like Hex said it's meant to through you off.

Ok, ok - points made, people. Let's not wreck this thread with a forty page debate about who said what and cats and goodness knows what else. Besides, who in their right mind would go to St. Ives anyway??

Riddle me this...

Three men walk into a motel and each pay ten dollars for a $30 room. Its not very nice, but what do you expect for $30? Eventually the night manager realizes the room is only 25 dollars and sends a bellhop to give the men 5 dollars back. On his way he realizes you can't split 5 evenly between 3 people. So he takes 2 dollars and sticks it in his pocket. Them he gives each man a dollar back. This is where it gets strange. Lets review...

Each man paid 10 dollars, but they each got 1 dollar back which means they have each only paid 9 dollars.

9x3=27

The bellhop has 2 dollars in his pocket

27+2 = 29
So where is the other dollar?
You shouldn't be adding the $2. You should be taking away $2 from the $27 that the three men have spent at the hotel.

Each man has paid $9. 3x9=27. $25 went to the hotel and $2 went to the bellhop.

A man takes a barrel that weighs 20 pounds, and then puts something in it. It now weighs less than 20 pounds.

What did he put in the barrel?

Warning, this is a spoiler!
A mug or something used to remove the contents of the barrel

Three men are in a boat. The boat capsizes but only two get their hair wet. Why?
