In my latest efforts to be the Almighty when it comes to stopping spammers I have noticed two peculiar things:

1. The majority of spam threads occur in this specific Sub-forum.

2. There is a huge lack of member participation in getting this spam removed.

Number one actually helps me, because I have a place to start when looking for potential spam. But number 2 is a problem, because although I am present on the forum many hours of the day, I do have a life and cannot spend 24 hours a day, 7 days a week searching for threads about incest and thai ladyboys.

That is where you (the member) come in handy. YOU need to help fight spam by sending us PRIVATE MESSAGES alerting us to these threads. The reason for a PM? Because as of late, the spam bots have gotten smart, and began flooding our e-mail accounts with fake reports. As of right now I have 1075 spam e-mails, don't believe me? Here:



By tomorrow morning that will be topping 1300 emails. The staff are trying to work something out, but I am not sure what will be done yet.

So, you must do your part in preventing spam on these forums!

So simply put; The "Report post"-function is not be as reliable as it used to be, so if you see something inappropriate, send one of us a PM instead.

Reason for this, as Fablefreak stated, is that the bots are using this function to flood our e-mail accounts with spam, so it's very hard to actually filter out a genuine report, sometimes impossible as 1.000 spam e-mails are not something you can or want to sit and look through.

Thanks for posting about this and making this thread Brian, and also to Tsuyu for adding to it. I hardly even read most the emails i get from here anymore as we get hundreds a day of pure spam so the report system is quite useless right now.

Ill check for spam too, i have only been on for like 5 days now, and its fun!!!! So lets get them buggers........Its like the dam flood they just keep on coming, and are annoying

The gallery is also a favourite spamming area so if you see yet another person offering casino membership or some crappy phone then let us know.

Yeah its driving me mad having to filter them all EVERY single day and clear all my emails EVERY day. If im busy (like i have been lately) i get online to find hundreds and hundreds filling my inbox.

Gmail is quite good like that - for me, it groups the emails according to where they have come from, so instead of 5 million separate emails, I get one - i.e. Fable 2 reported post (5647385583) - that kind of thing.

Plus it seems to filter them according to content so all the casino ones are grouped together, all the porn in another and all the viagra in a third etc.

*sigh* This isn't exactly negotiable, just because there is some qualm between us should not limit your ability to report spam. It is your duty as a member on this forum to do so.

You are quite right when it comes to not liking you or respecting you. I don't have to do either of those, because I don't even KNOW YOU. You are some random person on a forum on the internet. I like and respect the staff members and several regular members because they are genuinely interesting people who I have gotten to know over the last 2.5 years. You, I have known for a few months and had one chance encounter because I disagreed with what you said. In this case I am not the one over reacting.
