Cockermouth in Cumbria always made me chuckle.

There are plentyful of stupid names here in Sweden. For example "Fnaskberget" which means "Prostitute Mountaint".... And no, I don't live there.

Two things:

First: Boring Maryland??? How dare you say such a thing? I'll get you for that!!!

Second: Hey, Solus, I live near Marlborough too... just the wrong one. There're two near me, Upper Marlboro and Lower Marlborough. Always been my theory that they named the cigarrettes for Upper, since it was a big tobacco town... well, small tobacco town (founded to tax and regulate it, shipping only through it). Wikipedia disagrees, but screw Wikipedia.

We have some odd names in the UK - Shag Rock is one of them (yes, the source of endless amusement for the 16 year old boys I went to college with )

To keep us quiet on long car journeys up North, me and my sis were given the A-Z of England to help plot our route - we spent most of our time finding the oddest and/or more obscene names of places...as we were about 7 and 9 respectively, most the names had the word bottom in...how we laughed...
