What a day!

What a day!

Today started out great! I just finish a four day vacation. The day was warmer than the past other days. My hair was actually obeying my commands. I had a pep in my step and then it went down hill in 1 min flat. I was driving to work then there was a bump. Oh crap did i run over a person?!?! nope-nothing in the road. So I went a little more down the road humming and stopped at a red light...a grinding noise. what was that?!?! hm, alright---Green light says GO! I put the pedal to the metal but just like an old man who forgot his lil blue pill-I was a dud, nothing happened. No matter how much i try to start it nothing happened. So I am in the middle of the road trying to figure out what to do. So I panic but I am waving people by me with my emergency lights on. But some old (insert various cuss words that describes a middle age woman) broad started honking her horn! Like her horn honking is going to encourage my poor dead car to go. So, I got out of my car and started going off (not the best decision but that is what happens when you put a city girl in the middle of the country with (curse curse curse curse curse) bumpkins who do not know that the flashing lights and road flares may indicate that my car is disabled.) Right then the police came--GREAT! Totally thought I was going to get arrested but he was just checking to see if I am alright and to help me get out of the road. which he did plus an extra very handsome man. So I am cold and two other cops came and neither one were the original cop who helped me. The original police office was a ninja. So there are two new cops (maybe there were no crooks to get arrested at that time that i get all these special attention) well they left me seeing i was alright-alone, bored and cold now. But this nice man help me get further out of the road which was awesome cause I was sick of getting and giving dirty looks. He tries to help me and he is trying to start my car again (as if I have not been trying). He tells me something about ladies not knowing anything about cars and goes straight into the classic cover up that he did not mean anything by it. I am like alright dude-its true I know nothing about my car except to make sure it has gas and oil. I am sure some guys do not know anything either. And he is cussing here and there. excusing himself everytime he drops the S-word. Finally I just had to tell the man that he is not worse than me-I cuss more than a Drunken Sailor in pain. so he is checking it out some more and while I was on the phone with my insurance (which said they were going to be there within the hour) he manage to make a piece of my engine fly off-a plastic covering broken. greattttttt. All of a sudden it is 'well well well...look at the time' and bolts right after telling me the piece broke off because the timing is out of whack and I will need a new one and it re-timed. He kept saying it is out of time and I thought it was a nice way of saying My car was dead. So i started to get freaked out of my head. But he was just trying to say my timing belt is off. WHEW...well it wasn't so whew-this is an expensive adventure! So an hour and half goes by and the tow truck guy finally comes! I owe him ten dollars-because my insurance only covers 75 dollars of getting towed. Ten dollars-really man, you are going to get me for ten ...freaking dollars. FINE! but not fine...he does not take credit-i have to call his offiiiceee. whatever--so i am dealing with this guy who is towing my lively hood away and he has less personality than the grim reaper. So, I went ahead and call my friend because I still have to make it to work to make money. She is sooo cranky because i messed up her high! I ....messed...up..your high and you are cranky at me because of this?! I am stranded!!!!! whatever ..whatever...She finally gets all calmed down and gets me. I call my mom to let her known and she wants to lecture me about how she told me i should of got a new car. I am like...what signs did you see that I needed a new car that I did not see. The car was a-moving. So in conclusion I learned--People are rude, Some people are super nice, High people can be very protective of their high, and my mom put a voo doo spell on my car to fail.

Wow. I think the police often forget about the "protect" part of "protect and serve". Here's hoping you have a better day tomorrow!

*edit* Err I meant the serve part of protect and serve =).

Re: What a day!

Thanks! I have my fingers cross-cheap repair and hope that the piece the man broke off is not going to cost me an arm and a leg. My mom said i am handling this very well but i said I was crying on the inside. My mom called me emo. So I can not help but laugh for now. For now.....tomorrow I get the estimate on the repairs.

Sometimes they do--I like to think they were catching crooks...and not going to get food. I am a law student so I am keeping up beat about them.

Re: What a day!

Be weary of perfect days, they can go haywire and ruin all the enjoyment of a perfect day. I'm characteristically pessimistic so whenever I do have a perfect day that wasn't ruined by some very strange series of events, I save my happiness until the next day so as not to jinx it.

You work at a call center and only just then learned that some people are rude? I hate it when that happens though, it's almost as bad as when you're sandwiched in traffic and the guy behind you starts yelling and honking at you, not the tanker that tipped over twenty cars up the road.

My experience with the stoned is that a buzzkill is usually pestered until reparations are made, usually by giving them twenty bucks so that they can restore their buzz.

And yes, parents can do that. It is a trick so valueable that I'm considering fathering a child just to learn the trick. I've got a friend who tells his parents whenever they visit to not mention anything about the condition of anything, for fear that as soon as they leave and he neglects to do what they say, whatever they commented on will explode for unknown reasons.

There are two places I am very like to see police in my city: corner store, sitting on the outside bench, eating donuts and drinking coffee whilst reading the papers; parked behind a billboard, sleeping. No, really.

Our police don't like being bothered to do police work. Some of them are pretty good though, but the rest I wouldn't trust to do anything for me.

Wow, what a mess, Freakydreamer! I actually thought this was going to be a post about something good that happened.

Well, sorry about your bad day. And be mindful of hexes in the future!

Why the $216 decrease?

Re: What a day!

Likely not all of the problems that could have been there were there.
It's an optimistic way of looking at things.

Ahh, I see. I noticed mechanics like to do that a lot. The mechanic did that to me when I went in for a checkup, too.

But anyway, glad to see you saved some money, Freakydreamer. 'Specially with the economy not doing so well!
