I don't know, but it always seems to me that if you have the rod given to you by the old fisherman down by the creek, you tend to hook bigger fish.

Personally I've never caught anything more than 2,000 or so grams in weight, although I always hear the stories about the 10,000+ gram whoppers up at Hook Coast.

IIRC, someone claimed to catch a 100,000+ gram fish somewhere, but I still find that hard to believe.

which you don't have to give him a very big fish to get. I think 100G-50G will do it. I'm not quite sure. I know it's not very big.

If you go to the sign near the edge of the water it will tell you the weight of the fish required to win the prizes - although if you offer one only marginally above the minimum weight you may well find that it takes a couple more fish to get everything.

I think it says something like Biggest Fish Competition- size to beat x grams or whatever. It's not a lot, but I always chuck in a moonfish coz they weigh a ton, or if they won't accept it then yoink out something weighing at least 43g and you should be home free.

It has to be be at least 50 grams. He won't accept anything less. Well, not for the top prize at least.
