"Don't forget this is the company which pioneered LIVE which I believe will ultimately be far more impactful on video games in the long term than something like the Wii controller," he added.

Molyneux is famed as one of the world's most inventive game developers having his independent studio acquired by Microsoft in 2006. His portfolio of work includes Populous, Syndicate, Theme Park, Dungeon Beeper, and Fable. Currently he is working on Fable 2 for release on the Xbox 360 sometime in 2008.

There are a reported 7.1 million Xbox Live subscribers (both free and paid) to date compared with at least 11 million Wii Remotes.

*eats the above poster*

I'm not prepared to say either one is more impactful. Let me put it this way: I don't use LIVE all that much because I'm more interested in playing games with people I know aren't morons already. And with the Wii, the developers need to start making things other than minigames. Corruption is a good start to that :-P

Well, if you ask me he is right. LIVE has allowed console gamers to come together all over the world and play which if you ask me is far more impactful than a controller.

They have both brought new ideas and new possibilities to console gamers and opened up new avenues for games titles.

But nontheless the Wii doe-dally is just a controller(although an advanced one), whilst LIVE is a world-wide network bringing togheter gamers in a way never done before.

It would be a whole lot easier to add a motion controller to the xbox than to create some as awesome as XBL for the Wii. Granted you would still need the games to be motion oriented, but that doesn't seem to be to hard for developers to integrate.

The good thing about Live is that its so streamlined, efficient and organised. Microsoft have experience in the online market and this has helped them a lot. Will be hard for any company to surpass what Xbox Live has done.

Exactly
While the PS3 is already adding motion control and Microsoft has mentioned plans to add full room motion control to games in it's next system

If all the Wii had going was the motion controller it wouldn't be successful. They have tapped th casual gamer market better than anyone else even knew it existed. I wonder how deep the pockets of a casual gamer are. What I mean is will they spend as much on Wii games and accessories as the more traditionally marketed gamer? It could be that as kids move into the more hectic pace of adult life. That they by necessity move from a hard core to a more casual type of gamer. I'm in that boat but you know what I chose so maybe all the Wii has going is price point and great marketing coupled with more family friendly games supposedly

would you rather have a fast and easily accessible internet, or a fancy keyboard?
That's why I think XboxLIVE will make a bigger impact. Still a motion-sensitive controller is a good idea, maybe consoles will use it in the future also.

The wii is a good system but it is a bit childish and has yet to support many good titles.
