I think you can play Online with other players with Gold, but can`t with Silver. I don`t have a 360 so`I`m not sure.
And I think you can`t plug it into your computer directly.

Im presuming that your PC works on a wireless network then with Modem being downstairs? If this is true then you just have to get the wireless adapter for the 360. I plug mine into a router with an ethernet cable and my PC doesnt have to be on for it to work as it only runs through the router.

Another Xbox Live question

well, i just recently got an xbox 360 and i am in a dilemma of how to hook up my xbox live connection. My xbox360 is upstairs, as is my computer, so the ethernet cable isnt long enought to get all the way downstairs. does anyone know if ill have to

A: get a ethrnet cable extender (if one exists)

B: somehow use the internet of my computer upstairs in my room (its right next to my 360) my computer is connected to my DSL modem by a pretty long cord.

C: i think maybe i could buy a second modem for my dsl and hook the already existing one to it and have it upstairs so i can connect to xbox live that way.

if you think you know of any other ways please tell me it would be appreciated.

Re: Another Xbox Live question

Or just a regular router if you can't afford a wireless one, but if you buy a wired one for upstairs, make sure you buy an extra ethernet cable.

I've also merged this thread with the old one as it didn't need a seperate thread, the question looks the same, just with more detail

Re: Xbox Live question

well is there an ethernet extention cable compatable with the 360 because it would be much simpler.

I think my modem is wireless, i had the option of hooking up my computer wirelessly to the modem downstairs but the connection was sketchy, it would go on and off.

yeah.... pretty much any ethernet cable should work...

and that could be your connection, or it could be the wireless adaptor in your computer... can you check what the connection signal strength is? if it's weak, then it's likely just that adaptor and not the connection...

Alright, cool, so I can just go buy a 30ft cable at bestbuy and hook up my 360 to the dsl modem?

ummm I doubt they're just going to randomly send you a new one... if you've never even set up an Xbox Live account yet, they'll know you have never used it... so they'd likely tell you to take it back to the store
